AFSL Holders

An Australian Financial Services Licence (AFSL) is a legal licence required by ASIC for all businesses providing financial product advice.

Authorised Deposit Taking Institutions

ADIs are body corporates authorised to carry on banking business in Australia. This includes banks, building societies, and credit unions.

AUSTRAC Reporting Entities

AUSTRAC Reporting Entities are businesses offering the following services:
  • Gaming services
  • Money transfer and remittance services
  • Digital currency exchange services
  • Motor vehicle dealer services

Financial Advisors

Financial advisors are defined as Australian financial services (AFSL) licensees, authorised representative, employee or director of an AFS licensee, or an employee or director of a related body corporate of an AFS licensee that provide financial advice.

Friendly Societies

Friendly societies are mutually owned, not-for-profit company that provides financial benefits, such as funeral costs, sickness cover, hospital insurance and retirement benefits for its members.

General Insurance

General Insurers are those companies engaging in business of undertaking liability by way of insurance (including reinsurance), in respect of any loss or damage – excluding life insurance.

Life Insurance

Life insurance companies provide insurance policies for financial support in the event of an accident, serious illness or death.

Private Health Insurance

Private health insurers provide insurance policies that cover health care costs not covered by Medicare.

Superannuation

Superannuation funds are retirement pension benefit funds into which employers make compulsory contributions on behalf of their employees. Trustees are individuals or companies appointed to manage a fund.
